NEW YORK — Denée Benton is ready to put on her glass slippers again.
The actress, who plays Peggy Scott on the HBO Max series “The Gilded Age,” will return to the Broadway revival of “Into the Woods” as Cinderella.
Benton appeared as the fabled character before the production transferred from City Center Encores to Broadway’s St. James Theatre in July.
Producers announced Tuesday that she will step into the role, currently played by Krista Rodriguez, from Nov. 21 through Dec. 24.
The Lear deBessonet-helmed update of James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s 1987 musical — an adult-skewing mashup of the classic fairy tales “Jack and the Beanstalk,” “Rapunzel,” “Little Red Riding Hood” and “Cinderella” — has had several extensions since initiating an eight-week run on Broadway.
The production currently stars Tony Award winners Patina Miller and Gavin Creel alongside Stephanie J. Block, Brian d’Arcy James, Phillipa Soo, Montego Glover and Joshua Henry.
Benton, 30, scored a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut in the musical “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812.”
The Winter Park, Florida, native’s credits also include the Broadway juggernaut “Hamilton” and the West End production and national tour of “The Book of Mormon.”
“Into the Woods” is scheduled to end its limited run on Jan. 8.
