Gil, Parrott, Scarlett and Udogie goals, Rodon hooked and Winks nickname - Tottenham loan latest

It was a very good weekend for four of Tottenham's loan army as they managed to get their name on the scoresheet for their respective clubs. Not only did Dane Scarlett, Troy Parrott and Destiny Udogie add to their tallies for the campaign, Bryan Gil marked his Sevilla homecoming with a strike from close range against Real Mallorca.

While the quartet can be very pleased with their contributions, a number of Tottenham's other loanees didn't have the best of times with limited minutes coming their way. So how exactly did all 11 get on across the globe? football.london takes a look below.

Djed Spence and Joe Rodon (Rennes)

It is now back-to-back defeats for Rennes as they fell to a 3-1 loss at Toulouse last Sunday. Both Spence and Rodon started the contest, with the former playing the full match and the latter replaced on 70 minutes.

French media outlet Maxi Foot gave Spence a rating of 4.5 for his performance after initially creating some good situations with some dangerous play before having less of an impact as the game wore on. Rodon, on the other hand, was given a score of 2 for his "failed" performance as he "disappointed again".

Both have the opportunity to bounce back on Thursday evening with a Europa League clash away at Shakhtar Donetsk on the calendar. Rennes then face Clermont Foot at home on Sunday as they aim to get back on track in Ligue 1.

Bryan Gil (Sevilla)

Two games is all it has taken for Gil to to find the net in his second spell with Sevilla. Coming on at the break in his first match back at Barcelona, the Spain Under-21 star was handed a start in last weekend's home clash against Mallorca and he netted their second goal in a 2-0 win with a simple finish from point-blank range.

It was a moment for the player to cherish as he marked his birthday and first game back at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in style. "My family and friends are here. This was a second debut of sorts for me and it was even better with the goal and the victory. It was not hard to finish, but I had to be there," the winger told Sevilla's official website.

"Some beautiful memories from my debut came back to me, and I have come back to where I was very happy, with a goal. I can't express this in words because I am very emotional. It's an honour that the fans of my boyhood club support me so much. Today they were just as good if not better than us, the players. We notice this and it gives us an extra spark."

Gil has been named in the Sevilla squad for Thursday evening's Europa League clash against PSV, with Sevilla then back in La Liga action against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday afternoon.

Destiny Udogie (Udinese)

It only took 25 seconds for Udogie to make his mark for Udinese last weekend as they drew 2-2 with Sassuolo. Picking the ball up on the left flank, the wing-back ran at his marker and cut inside before unleashing a shot with his right foot from the edge of the area that found the bottom corner.

His strike means he now has three goals and two assists to his name from 19 appearances in all competitions this term. Four days on from Tottenham playing at the San Siro, Udogie will be at the iconic stadium on Saturday evening when Udinese take on Inter Milan.

Harry Winks (Sampdoria)

Elsewhere in Italy, Sampdoria registered a vital point in their battle against the drop with a 0-0 draw at home to Inter Milan on Monday evening. Winks once again got the full 90 minutes under his belt, which in fact was his fourth successive start for the Genoa-based club after missing the first part of the season through injury.

The midfielder was given a rating of 6.5 by Genova Today, who labelled him as a "little prince" after putting order in midfield and demonstrating once again that he has a different pace. As Sampdoria fans will undoubtedly agree, they also stated that it was "too bad" that they didn't have him available during the first part of the campaign.

Speaking to the Daily Mail following the 0-0 draw, Winks opened up on his injury woes and wanting to do everything possible to ensure Sampdoria remain in Serie A.

"It has taken me a while," he said. "I've been out for six months. Not training and then coming in for a session and then having to go back out with the ankle, it was a nightmare so to come back and feel good, like I do, to feel 100 per cent is all I wanted really.

"It will take time to get back to full match fitness. That's four full 90 minutes in a row and it's what I need to build fitness and get back to form.

"Sampdoria has shown massive faith in me. They signed me to play and for the first half of the season it was really difficult for me and the club but they stuck with me and I want to repay that faith and appreciation they've shown me. Every time I get on the pitch I want to do everything I can to help save this club, to keep this club in Serie A."

A home match against Bologna is next up for Sampdoria on Saturday afternoon.

Tanguy Ndombele (Napoli)

Ndombele has played a bit-part role in recent weeks for runaway Serie A league leaders Napoli. The Naples-based club are very much on track to winning their first Scudetto since 1990 as they have a huge 15-point lead over Inter Milan with 16 games of the campaign remaining.

Their latest league victory come last Sunday as they defeated Cremonese 3-0, with Ndombele replacing Hirving Lozano for the final seven minutes of the contest. Napoli travel to Sassuolo on Friday evening before they return to Champions League action on Tuesday with an away game against Eintracht Frankfurt on the agenda.

Sergio Reguilon (Atletico Madrid)

Reguilon's Atletico Madrid woes continued last weekend as he was an unused substitute for their 1-0 win away at Celta Vigo. Getting minutes under his belt either side of the World Cup after his initial injury struggles following his loan switch from Tottenham, Reguilon has yet to feature for Atleti since receiving a red card in their 1-1 draw at Almeria last month.

Making only five appearances for his new club so far in 2022/23, the player will have his fingers crossed that minutes come his way on Sunday evening when Diego Simeone's men host Athletic Bilbao.

Giovani Lo Celso (Villarreal)

Lo Celso continues to step up his fitness as he looks to return to first-team action sooner rather than later. The midfielder has not played a game for club or country since sustaining a hamstring injury at the end of October.

Harvey White (Derby)

White is now seeing an increase in his pitch time after a January loan switch to League One side Derby County. The midfielder has yet to start for the Rams but he has come off the bench in their last three games, notably getting 45 minutes on Tuesday evening with the team initially trailing 1-0 against Lincoln City before they struck a second-half equaliser.

Speaking after the game, Derby boss Paul Warne explained his thinking behind his half-time changes as White was one of two introduced. "The change of shape allowed us to bring on Harvey White, who is a good footballer. I thought we might switch the ball quicker and play with a bit more purpose," he told the club's official website.

More minutes will hopefully come the midfielder's way on Saturday when they host Charlton Athletic at Pride Park.

Troy Parrott (Preston North End)

Following a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury and having to make do with limited minutes since his return last month, Parrott got 90 minutes in the tank on Wednesday evening as Preston drew 1-1 with Luton.

Not only that, the Republic of Ireland international managed to get his name on the scoresheet as he emphatically netted from the penalty spot nine minutes from time as ten-man Preston battled back to earn a point against the high-flying visitors. Parrott did come in for plenty of praise from manager Ryan Lowe after the game, with the former striker admitting that he nearly brought the Preston man off before the referee pointed to the spot.

"It was (some penalty)," said Lowe, as reported by Lancashire Live. "I thought Troy was fantastic. I thought he was fantastic. I nearly brought him off before the penalty, because I am always cautious, with him being out for a while. But he has been fit and champing at the bit. He has rifled it right down the middle and hopefully it can kick him on now, to get some goals."

Parrott and Preston return to action on Saturday with an away trip to Hull City.

Dane Scarlett (Portsmouth)

Regular minutes have been hard to come by for Scarlett since John Mousinho replaced Danny Cowley at the Portsmouth helm one month ago. Only starting once in the league since then in a 2-1 defeat at Peterborough United, the striker was then an unused substitute at Barnsley before coming on for 29 minutes in last weekend's 3-1 defeat at Plymouth Argyle.

Only given 18 minutes in Tuesday's home game against Burton Albion, Scarlett made the most of his limited time by scoring a stoppage-time winner to seal a crucial three points. The youngster was in the right place in the box to volley in from six yards to spark wild scenes at Fratton Park.

Speaking to The News after the game, Portsmouth player Joe Rafferty hailed Scarlett and claimed that the 18-year-old can "go as high as he wants" in the game.

"Dane’s been really good," said Rafferty. "It’s been difficult for him at times because he’s a young lad, he’s coming out on his first loan so of course it’s going to be difficult for him at times. But we’ve just got to stick with him and keep giving him the confidence.

"Although he is a young boy, he needs confidence in himself and when he does have that he’s a really good player. We know Dane’s talented, it's as simple as that. With young boys they can be hit and miss at some times - but that’s fine, they’re still learning. Hopefully he can kick on and now score us some more goals."

He added: "I can’t put too much pressure on him but Dane can do whatever he wants in a game. He’s really talented and when he can show what he’s about on a consistent basis then he can go as high as he wants."

Scarlett will be hoping that his winner against Burton leads to an increase in minutes this weekend when Pompey visit Lincoln City.
