Gigs and club nights in London: from Lauryn Hill to Connie Constance

Lauryn Hill

The O2, October 14

The queen is coming to London. And, yes, she might be a little late, but she’s still Ms Lauryn Hill. The superstar, above, is set to perform at The O2 this Monday with The Fugees as part of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill25th anniversary tour, which started last year. Ready or not, here she comes. It’s likely to sell out, but official resale tickets are available via The O2 and AXS — although beware, they’ll cost a pretty penny.

Riposte

Electrowerkz, October 11

Riposte is a queer art rave that focuses on inclusivity and always comes with a theme. This time it’s clowns, so don’t be shocked to see a load of bewigged and bouncy-nosed folk swanning about Angel a fortnight before Halloween. But be mindful of why you were invited to this function (if you were invited in the first place): you want to be attending with a queer person, and be fully committed to revelling in the queer joy of it all, or it might not be one for you.

Moses Sumney

EartH, October 15

Soulful American singer-songwriter Moses Sumney was blessed with the voice of an angel. Don’t believe me? Give him a listen or, better yet, head down to EartH in Dalston this Tuesday and get ready to feel what the neanderthals felt the first time they saw a shooting star. But for that kind of beauty, you’ll also have to contend with the waitlist via Dice. Fair’s fair.

Fabric’s 25th birthday

October 11 & 12

One of London’s most illustrious clubs is celebrating the big two-five this weekend with a bumper line-up of electronic acts, including Todd Edwards b2b Yung Singh on Friday and Ricardo Villalobos, Ben UFO and Peach on the Saturday, alongside longstanding resident DJ turned musical director Craig Richards, of course. Plus, it’s age 19 and over, so you won’t have to deal with any pesky freshers.

Sofia Kourtesis

Phonox, October 11

Peruvian DJ Sofia Kourtesis is taking over the tunes at Phonox for four Fridays this October, including this Friday. She’ll be bringing in some mates to help with the residency, too, with Logic1000, Kornel Kovacs, Anish Kumar and System Olympia all mucking in. For a guaranteed quality club night, Kourtesis is your girl.

Connie Constance

The Lexington, October 12

Watford-born singer-songwriter Connie Constance is set to croon her enchanting catalogue of songs at the Lexington this Saturday, which is a no-brainer for anyone wanting something softer this weekend. And to make it even better, the event is in support of War Child’s Day of the Girl, which raises money to protect, educate and advocate for the rights of girls and women amid the turmoil of war.
