Giants vs. Saints: 3 reasons for optimism in Week 14

The New York Giants will host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The Giants (2-10) have lost seven straight games, and with just five weeks remaining in the NFL season, most fans are eyeing Big Blue’s draft position.

Meanwhile, the Saints (4-8) have won two of their last three games. However, before that, New Orleans had a seven-game losing streak.

Here are three reasons for optimism ahead of Sunday’s game.

LOCKed in

On Wednesday, the Giants announced that Drew Lock would be under center for the second straight game. He has to be motivated given that he was jumped by Tommy DeVito once Daniel Jones was benched after spending the entire season as the backup quarterback.

Lock has a lot to play as he is likely auditioning for a job next year.

The Giants have had a revolving door at quarterback the last three weeks, it will certainly benefit the offense to get some continuity on offense on Sunday.

Saints’ defense gives up yards

The Giants offense has been putrid all season long, struggling to move the ball down the field and put points on the board. The Saints provide the Giants with a favorable matchup to gain yards both on the ground and through the air.

The Saints’ defense is a bottom-four team in the league in both opponents’ rushing yards per game and opponents’ passing yards per game.

This should be something the Giants should be able to capitalize on.

Saints record outside of Caesars Superdome

The Saints have just one win outside of their home turf this season. In fact, their only win on the road this season came in Dallas at another indoor stadium.

It will be a cold one on Sunday, which may benefit the Giants as they are hosting a dome team.

The Giants are 0-6 this season at MetLife Stadium. However, the Saints will be the first team the Giants will welcome to East Rutherford with a road record below .500 entering Week 14.
