The New York Giants (2-8) will take on the Washington Commanders (4-6) this Sunday afternoon at FedEx Field in their 11th game of the 2023 regular season.
Opening the week, the Giants were 10-point road underdogs but things have gotten slightly better since then. As of this writing, Big Blue is +9.5.
How does the Giants Wire staff see this Week 11 battle shaking out? Here’s a look at our picks and score predictions:
Dan Benton: Commanders 26, Giants 10
It’s going to be another ugly Giants loss. They can’t move the ball offensively, can’t stop the run, are riddled with injury and Sam Howell seems to be coming into his own.
Does anything else really need to be said? It’s a dark time.
John Fennelly: Commanders 23, Giants 6
The Commanders may be 4-6 but they have been competitive the past four games and QB Sam Howell has thrown the football as well as any team in the NFL over that period. They lost to the Giants, 14-7, in Week 7 but a lot has changed since then. The Giants have declined greatly on both sides of the ball and are getting nothing from their special teams. The Giants had another long list of reported injuries this week, which will add to their frustration.
Tyler Henry: Commanders 20, Giants 13
The Giants have shown no fight since losing Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor. The defense, who was playing well during the three-game stretch in Weeks 6-8, has played terribly the last two weeks giving up 79 points combined.
Despite the fact that the Giants have owned the Commanders in recent memory, it’s hard to have confidence in these Giants, who are led by third-string quarterback Tommy DeVito.
With most fans keeping a close eye on the Giants’ 2024 draft position, I think there are three winnable games left on the schedule and this is one of them. I just can’t see it happening. They are double-digit underdogs for a reason.
Kevin Hickey: Commanders 24, Giants 10
The offense hasn’t been able to generate much hope outside of Saquon Barkley potentially busting off a big play. The defense will have its opportunities to get after Sam Howell, but he’s also been playing well enough to lead Washington to win even with a few mistakes. Expect Terry McLaurin and Brian Robinson Jr. to have solid games in the Commanders win.
Jeevan Kirkland: Commanders 27, Giants 10
New York has looked like a shell of their 2022 selves and it has just been compounded by injuries. The Commanders are far from a great team but they look much more competent than the Giants and should be good enough to get a season split with Big Blue. Their high-volume passing attack will prove to be a problem against a Giants defense that allowed over 400 passing yards last week.
The Giants also look unable to exploit Washington’s only weakness (their offensive line) as Big Blue has failed to generate any pass rush all season.
This game will likely be over by halftime.
Serena Burks: Commanders 17, Giants 14
The Giants organization gives us little faith in the remainder of the season. Between the injuries and locker room drama, they are likely to undergo changes this offseason. That said, the players still have a job to do. However, they have been largely unsuccessful this season and despite beating the Commanders a few weeks ago, it’s unlikely that will happen again. There are simply too many obstacles to overcome and not enough weapons.
