Giants’ Tommy DeVito has a big supporter in comedian Tracy Morgan

Just two weeks ago, the New York Giants’ 2023 season was as dead as a football season could get. They were 2-8 and were just blown out in back-to-back games by the Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys on the road.

The Giants suffered severe quarterback injuries in each game, one to starter Daniel Jones and another to backup Tyrod Taylor.

The team was forced to turn to emergency quarterback Tommy DeVito — an undrafted free agent out of Illinois via Syracuse and Don Bosco Prep.

The local kid pumped some much-needed life into the Giants’ pathetic offense and has since been forging an exciting ‘local boy does good’ narrative that has revitalized the Giants’ season with back-to-back wins.

DeVito’s story is very New Jersey. He loves chicken cutlet parmigiana sandwiches (vodka sauce instead of red), sleeps in his childhood bed and his mother still does his laundry.

Comedian Tracy Morgan, a native New Yorker who is a professed Giants fan, makes no bones about living at home with his mother well until adulthood.

“That’s a good thing,” Morgan said on Inside the NFL this week, via NJ Advance Media. “That’s healthy. He needs all the caregiving he can get. You can’t just get coaching on the field. You’ve got to get coaching at home. Coach Brian Daboll won’t tell him to make his bed.”

DeVito will make close to a million dollars this season, something Morgan said doesn’t necessarily mean he has to move out. Morgan then made light of the serious auto accident he was involved in several years back that left him badly injured.

“Sure, you can. I did,” Morgan said. “I was living at home when I got hit by that Walmart truck. My mother said, ‘Thank God, it was Walmart and not Walgreens!’

“She got me on the highway right now,” Morgan continued. “Hold on, Mom! We’re going to go hit the highway right now and search for an Amazon truck.”

DeVito has no intention of moving out from all accounts. Not right now, anyway. Giant fans hope he stays put and keeps on throwing touchdowns and winning ballgames.
