Giants QB Tommy DeVito Lives With Parents, and NFL Fans Have So Many Jokes

Quarterback injuries across the NFL have forced some young backups into action before they might have been fully prepared, both on and off the field.

On the field, Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito, who is in line to start against the Cowboys on Sunday, is set to make his first NFL start, completing 15 of his 20 passes for 175 yards in relief of Daniel Jones against the Raiders last week in a 30–6 loss.

Off the field, he still hasn't moved out of his parents' house.

According to a report from ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, DeVito is still enjoying the comforts of his childhood home.

Per Raanan:

“It was a no-brainer for me,” DeVito told ESPN about living with his parents. “Everything that I need is there at the house. The decision was made since this level of football is stressful for a rookie, especially from the quarterback position. There is a lot going on, a lot of meetings. So everything outside of football is handled by my family.

"I don't have to worry about laundry, what I'm eating for dinner, chicken cutlets and all that is waiting for me when I get there. My mom still makes my bed. Everything is handled for me. Honestly, I don't even know if I could find a place closer to here than where I live. It takes me 12 minutes to get here."

Unsurprisingly, DeVito's revelation quickly made the rounds on social media, where fans had plenty of jokes to make at the rookie's expense.

At first glance, it's easy to joke about DeVito's living situation. As a professional football player, one might think that finding your own place and living on your own would be easy.

But DeVito is a rookie who went undrafted before signing on to the Giants’ practice squad, and with Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor ahead of him on the depth chart, he had no guarantee of holding his spot with the team from week to week.

Further, any independent living DeVito pursued would not include his mother’s chicken cutlets.

Given that, why consider living anywhere but home?
