Giants’ offensive triplets ranked 28th by CBS Sports

The New York Giants will enter the 2022 season hopeful that they’ll finally be able to put their offensive struggles behind them.

Joe Judge is gone and he’s been replaced by head coach Brian Daboll, who brought in Mike Kafka to help run his offense. The unit will be far more aggressive, disciplined and spread out. There’s added depth and above all else, the offensive line finally appears at least functional.

Despite all of the improvements, Jared Dubin of CBS Sports still ranks the Giants’ offensive triplets — Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley and Kenny Golladay — among the league’s very worst.

28. New York Giants (Avg: 26.4, High: 23, Low: 29)

QB: Daniel Jones RB: Saquon Barkley WR: Kenny Golladay

I was surprised to see the Giants check in this low, but if you look at the actual averages, you can see that our staff felt there was virtually no difference between them, the Jets, and the Panthers. That seems reasonable, given Daniel Jones’ struggles, and Barkley and Golladay’s injury issues. Brian Daboll should help this group perform better than it did under Joe Judge and Jason Garrett, but it may just need a talent upgrade.

The ranking itself may seem low, but the analysis is fair. Barkley and Golladay have been oft-injured and Jones did struggle greatly in Judge’s offense. Daboll’s offense is structured in a way that’s far more conducive to success, but that will require health — and none of the three have been consistently healthy.
