Giants’ Jalin Hyatt named Pepsi Rookie of the Week

Don’t look now, but the New York Giants are surging. They’ve won two straight games and have repositioned themselves in the NFC playoff race.

They’ve also won the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week in back-to-back weeks — rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito after a win over the Washington Commanders and now, rookie wide receiver Jalin Hyatt following a victory over the New England Patriots.

Hyatt beat out several others, including Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud and Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers, for the nod.

The rookie out of Tennessee hauled in five of his six targets for 109 yards and a long of 41 yards. Two of his first down catches were highlighted by impressive field awareness and Amani Toomer-like toe-tapping.

For Hyatt, it was his first career 100-yard game.

“He’s quarterback friendly,” quarterback Tommy DeVito said after the Week 12 win. “I mean anybody that’s that fast and can make the plays that he makes is quarterback friendly, so it makes a lot easier to put those balls up for him, but he’s just a special individual. Special player, route runner, whatever you want to call it and he’s a confident dude. He tells me he’s like ‘I’m going to go get this ball for you’ like if we call this, I’m going to make play. So, it takes a lot off my shoulders.”

With his role on offense increasing by the week, Hyatt is becoming more and more productive, and more and more dangerous. Defenses simply can not match his speed or footwork.
