Giants’ Andrew Thomas named one of the NFL’s top young players

It wasn’t very long ago that experts were preparing to call New York Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas a ‘bust.’

Times have changed, and so have opinions. Thomas, after an All-Pro 2022 campaign, is now considered one of the top left tackles in the NFL.

Thomas is on other lists as well, such as The 33rd Team’s Top 25 Players Under 25, compiled by award-winning NFL executive Jeff Diamond.

Thomas came in at No. 11. The top spot went to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Thomas stepped up his game in 2022 when he earned Second-Team All-Pro honors as a fine pass protector at left tackle for Daniel Jones. Thomas allowed only one quarterback hit through the first 10 games last season and only three sacks all season. His run blocking also is at a high level. Thomas was the fourth overall pick in 2020 out of Georgia.

Thomas is not only taking care of business on the field, he’s a team captain who has developed from a raw rookie to a refined veteran with leadership qualities.

“Definitely starting to transition to the vet mindset,” Thomas said on the first day of the Giants’ offseason workout program in May. “I think I’ve done a good job of handling my business, but the next step is being more vocal and bringing more guys with me.”

Thomas has focused on improving this offseason and refining his craft, and he should be even better in 2023.
