Giants’ Andrew Thomas makes no excuses for uncharacteristic performance

Left tackle Andrew Thomas has been an absolute rock for the New York Giants this season. He’s played at nothing short of an All-Pro level and has been their most reliable starter to date.

On Thanksgiving, that changed.

Thomas entered the game with an illness — the same one that haunted Graham Gano in Week 11 — and it clearly factored in. He struggled in pass protection, even allowing his first QB hit in roughly a month and first two sacks of the season, but made no excuses following the 28-20 loss to Dallas.

“That’s the NFL. Every team has to deal with injuries. Every team has a Thursday game. So you can’t make excuses. You just have to deal with it and go out there and play,” Thomas told reporters. “I got to play better. Let the team down today.”

Considering how often Thomas has picked the team up, he deserves a mulligan. He likely wouldn’t have played if the Giants weren’t already ravaged with injuries across the offensive line.

“He wasn’t feeling good. I’d say he was fighting through it today, too. Give those guys a lot of credit that pushed through things, and I certainly do,” head coach Brian Daboll said.

The Giants and Thomas now have 10 days to get healthy before they take on the Washington Commanders at MetLife Stadium.
