Authorities are investigating after a packed passenger plane hit a lorry during take-off at a Spanish airport.
The aircraft, which was operated by Air Senegal, collided with a lorry at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport in El Prat de Llobregat at around noon on August 30th.
No injuries were reported.
The Airbus A319-111 bound for Dakar hit the lorry with the tip of its left wing during pushback, in preparation for take-off.
The force of the collision left the lorry tilting diagonally, with the wheels on its right side suspended in the air.
The 16-year-old aircraft was unable to fly due to damage sustained in the collision.
The passengers were made to exit the plane and were eventually placed on a new flight.
It is not clear how many were on board at the time.
The authorities are now investigating how the accident could have happened.
El Prat Airport, which serves the Barcelona metropolitan area, handled more than 18 million passengers last year.
It is the sixth busiest airport in Europe.
It wasn't the first time a pilot had somehow failed to spot a truck during takeoff.
Back in 2017 The Mirror reported on a plane that collided with a truck as it made a bizarre attempt to take off on a busy road in Russia.
The pilot was taken to hospital after his single engine aircraft crashed into the vehicle on the road in Chechnya.
He managed to escape with minor injuries.
Video taken by an onlooker showed the plane plough into the back of a truck, which was parked by the side of the road.
Moments before the smash, cars travelling in the opposite direction can be seen swerving out of the way of the plane as it taxied along the road.
A person can be seen in the footage jumping away and crawling on the ground in an attempt to escape.
According to local traffic police, the driver of the damaged van was not inside at the moment of the crash.
It is not known why the plane was trying to take off from the road.
