Giant Christmas baubles roll through Tottenham Court Road causing traffic chaos

Two giant Christmas baubles wreaked havoc as they rolled down a major road in central London on Halloween night.

A video capturing the bizarre moment was posted to TikTok by The Shade Borough, who captioned the post: "Looks like these #Christmas decorations couldn’t withstand the heavy winds in Central London last night!

"Two giant baubles were spotted flying through Tottenham Court Road."

The 46-second clip showed motorists, cyclists and pedestrians scrambling to get out of the path of two huge silver balls as they careened down the street, hitting lamp posts and buildings before coming to a stop as they blocked the road.

Viewers found the clip hilarious and were quick to make a joke of it in the video's comment section, with one user writing: "Explain that to your insurance company".

Another commented: "They heard Mariah Carey calling and assembled."

The unusual scene came after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for the southern coast of England, with storm Claudio making its way over to the UK from France.

The bad weather is expected to continue in London tonight with the Met Office predicting "further heavy showers through the evening and first half of tonight, and remaining breezy".

Wednesday is also set to see "strengthening winds" and spells of "occasionally heavy rain" as it becomes "very windy."

The Met Office have also issued rain and wind warnings for other areas across the UK tomorrow, including western Wales, northern England, southwest Scotland and the east coast of Northern Ireland.

Chief Meteorologist Neil Armstrong said: “Much of the UK can expect a spell of strong southerly winds on Wednesday, but the warning area highlights where gusts of up to 65mph will be and therefore where there are likely to be some travel delays.”
