Giannis breaks Bucks record in NBA win over Houston

Giannis Antetokounmpo has broken Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's Milwaukee rebounding record as he combined with Damian Lillard to steer the Bucks to a 128-119 NBA win over the Houston Rockets.

Antetokounmpo had 26 points and 17 boards on Monday (AEDT), with his highest rebounding tally of the season moving him past Hall of Famer Abdul-Jabbar.

He now has 17,165 rebounds in 11 seasons with Milwaukee and also leads the team scoring and assists records.

Antetokounmpo joins Michael Jordan (Chicago), LeBron James (Cleveland) and Kevin Garnett (Minnesota) as the only players to lead an NBA club in all three categories.

Lillard also had a double-double against Houston with 39 points and 11 assists as the Bucks racked up a 13th consecutive home win to move to 19-7 for the season.

On a dirty night for the Rockets, Dillon Brooks was ejected after picking up two technical fouls and coach Ime Udoka received two technicals after walking onto the court.

A record also fell in San Antonio, where New Orleans set a new team-high with 22 three-pointers in a 146-110 thrashing of Victor Wenbanyama and the Spurs.

CJ McCollum (29 points) and Brandon Ingram (26) did most of the damage, landing 11 triples between them as Australia's Dyson Daniels pitched in with one.

Daniels finished with five points, four assists and four rebounds off the bench.

Wembanyama had 17 points and 13 rebounds in front of former San Antonio All-Star Tony Parker, who was the No.1 draft pick's childhood idol in France and later became his mentor.

Eastern Conference leaders Boston (20-5) extended their perfect home record to 14-0 as Jaylen Brown scored 17 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter of a 114-97 win over Orlando.

It is the Celtics' second-best start to a season at home, just three wins shy of the 1957-58 team's record 17 consecutive victories.

Phoenix outscored Washington 31-19 in the final quarter to register a 112-108 home win behind 28 points from Kevin Durant and 27 from Devin Booker.

Klay Thompson (28 points) and Andrew Wiggins (25) fired Golden State to a 118-114 road win over battling Portland, who suffered a sixth consecutive defeat despite 30 points from Jerami Grant.
