Fast-growing tech services provider Giacom has been named Cloud Company of the Year, with chief executive Mike Wardell also receiving a prestigious personal accolade.
Hull-based Giacom provides services to more than 3,600 partners, who in turn support a network of almost 80,000 small and medium-sized businesses across the UK. Joining forces with Digital Wholesale Solutions in a 2020 acquisition, the company has continued to see impressive growth in recent years, with revenue expected to grow to £100 million in the current financial year.
Giacom’s rapid growth and exceptional customer service was recognised at the Storage, Digitalisation and Cloud Awards 2022, held at the Royal Garden Hotel in London. The company accolade came for its Cloud Market platform and clear focus on supporting its partner network, with the team also named runner-up in the Cloud Platform Innovation of the Year category.

Mr Wardell, who joined the business in 2016 and took the helm the following summer, was named Channel Champion. He successfully led the transformation of Giacom from a hosted exchange provider into an award-winning cloud marketplace. Under his leadership, Giacom has developed and expanded its all-inclusive marketplace, partnering with globally-leading vendors to add value for customers.
He said: “I’m delighted that Giacom has been recognised as a leader in the cloud services sector. Customers are at the centre of everything we do and to receive these accolades before our industry peers is a huge endorsement of everything we’ve achieved.
“On a personal level, I’m honoured to have been named Channel Champion, but this award is about so much more than me. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by a talented and dedicated team who all share a common goal – to provide a smooth, hassle-free experience for our customers.”
Giacom has seen consistent growth over recent years. In 2020, the Hessle team recorded revenues of £48.9 million. By 2021, that figure had risen to £58.6 million. In the 2022 financial year, Giacom is predicted to see a further 29 per cent income growth, with revenue expected to hit the £100 million mark.
Giacom owns its own Cloud Market portal – providing its partners with straightforward billing and pricing, on-demand tech support and help with integrating new products into their business.
The accolades follow another company and personal double win fo Giacom at the Hull Live Business Awards 2022.
