The moment a delivery driver's car was hijacked and stolen has been captured on CCTV.
Footage taken outside Ayr dessert parlour What the Scoop has shown the shocking grand theft auto which took place on Sunday night in the town's Content Street.
The delivery driver is said to be traumatised after a thug jumped in her parked red Vauxhall Astra and then sped off as they were left helpless in the shop.
The CCTV clip shows a ghostly figure appear from the right roadside, the person then opens the door, gets into the car and zooms off.
It is understood the driver went back into the shop to gather another order set for delivery between 10.10pm and 10.20pm.
But as they went to come back out the shop an assailant hijacked their motor and raced off.
Owner Haroon Ali told Ayrshire Live: "Our delivery driver was just putting an order in the car and then went into the shop to collect another.
"It happened so fast, it must have only been 30 seconds by the time she went to get her car the person had sped off with it. They have completely hijacked her motor.
"It is absolutely shocking, the staff here are traumatised. Business is hard enough without things like this happening."
It is understood the drivers phone was in the car at the time and was also stolen in the one sweep.
Reports have since been made that the car was spotted at the scene of several house breakings across the town.
Neighbours raised the alarm on Monday night that two houses were broken into in the Dalmilling area of Ayr.
Posts on social media seen by Ayrshire Live suggest that the car had changed number plates.
Police have launched a probe into the car theft and have confirmed they are making enquiries into a house breaking in Fulshaw Crescent, in the Dalmilling area.
It is understood officers probing the theft and house breaking believe they are "linked".
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of the theft of a car from Content Street, Ayr, around 10.15pm on Sunday, 26 February, 2023.
“Officers also attended a report of a housebreaking on Fullshaw Crescent, Ayr around 7.45pm on Monday, February 27.
“Enquiries into both incidents are ongoing.”
