GF Tomlinson has completed work on £3.4 million fire station for Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service
The new fire station is located at the Vesuvius development off Sandy Lane in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, and replaces a former fire station which was built in 1963 and located at Eastgate.
Plans for the scheme were submitted by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service at the beginning of last year and approved by Bassetlaw District Council.
The scheme forms part of the wider Vesuvius development – a multi-million-pound scheme which aims to become the prime industrial and business location in the town, with a mix of light industrial units, food and drinks outlets and office spaces planned, the first phase of which completed last summer.
Derby-based GF Tomlinson has been working closely with the fire and rescue service’s project management consultants Turner & Townsend on the plans.
The new fire station has the capacity to self-generate up to 50 per cent of its energy consumption, and the building comprises of meeting rooms, offices, fire engine bays and a gymnasium for firefighters.
It also has a three-storey training tower and compound store, as well as car parking spaces and external landscaping.
