Budding bakers are invited to show off their skills to Erskine veterans and celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager as part of the Ideal Home Show’s much-anticipated Cake Competition.
Rosemary and representatives of Scotland’s largest veterans charity will judge the entries, with a winner being crowned on the Super Theatre stage during the event at the SEC in Glasgow.
The winning cake will then be presented to the Erskine’s Reid Macewen Activity Centre in Bishopton, where it will be served to Veterans to enjoy at an afternoon tea.
Whether you are an amateur or a professional, the Cake Competition is an opportunity to show off your baking and cake decorating skills for thousands of visitors to see.

The inspiration for this year’s competition is Flower of Scotland. The theme links to the national anthem of Scotland, as well as resembling the beautiful greenery and flourishing landscape that Scotland is famed for.
Erskine is also getting into the gardening spirit, with its own themed garden - The Falklands: Shadow of the Brave - being displayed during the event.
The contest is open to all amateur cakemakers, regardless of age or experience. All the judges are looking for is a one in a million creation.
Wing Commander Ian Cumming MBE, Erskine chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be involved in the Ideal Home Show’s Cake Competition, and it is great that an Erskine Veteran will be helping to judge what is sure to be a tasty event.
“I’m certain that we will have no shortage of volunteers to rise to the judging challenge, and they will have an able assistant in Rosemary Shrager.
“We would encourage as many budding bakers as possible to get involved, with the countdown now on to the Ideal Home Show. Erskine is once again privileged to be partnering with the Ideal Home Show and we are looking forward to what is sure to be a great event at the SEC.”
Rosemary added: “It’s a super theme this year and I cannot wait to see the designs but remember bakers, presentation is everything and it has to look appetising as well as beautiful.”
Cakes need to be delivered to the SEC Glasgow on May 25 between 4pm and 6pm. Judging takes place the following day and winners will be announced at 3.15pm.
