'Get him in now!' - Manchester United fans issue Yves Bissouma deadline day transfer plea

Several Manchester United supporters are pleading with the club to add a defensive-midfielder to the squad ahead of the January transfer window closing for business at 11pm this evening.

United, who will resume their campaign at home to Championship side Middlesbrough in the FA Cup fourth-round on Friday evening, are keen to strengthen their holding midfield options and quickly sounded it out as an area they wanted to strengthen this month.

Despite being set to give interim manager Ralf Rangnick the green light to add a player of that kind to his squad, United are not expected to add any new recruits to their squad before the bell, despite being heavily linked with the likes of RB Leipzig ace Amadou Haidara and Dennis Zakaria, who is set to join Juventus from Borussia Monchengladbach, amongst others.

But even though no new additions are expected, United's fans on social media are determined to see the club make a late swoop for a midfielder, preferably Brighton star Yves Bissouma.

The defensive-minded midfielder has been linked with several top-end Premier League clubs over the last 12 months or so, including Arsenal and Liverpool.

Now, with the clock ticking, United's fans have been urging the club to make a move for his services. Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what some of the supporters have had to say.

As you can see from the messages displayed in the tweets above, United's supporters are keen to see the club add to its midfield options before the window slams shut this evening, ideally with Seagulls ace Bissouma.

The 25-year-old, who joined Brighton from Lille back in 2018, is considered as one of the best defensive-midfielders in the Premier League and has gone from strength-to-strength in the last 18 months or so.

Arsenal were desperate to lay their hands on him last summer and identified him as a top target, meaning it is unlikely to be long before a big-name club does secure his signature.

Bissouma has played 14 times in the Premier League this season and recently helped his native Mali reach the last-16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.
