German actress Nina Hoss, known for her acclaimed performances in films such as Phoenix, Tár, and Barbara, is set to star in the upcoming adventure thriller The Other Side, directed by Mariko Minoguchi. In the film, Hoss will portray Hanna, a doctor who chooses to self-isolate in the mountain wilderness amidst an epidemic to safeguard herself and others.
Hoss has gained recognition for her collaborations with director Christian Petzold, notably in movies like Yella, Barbara, and Phoenix. Her diverse acting range has also been showcased in projects like Todd Field's Oscar-nominated Tár, where she played Cate Blanchett's wife, as well as in TV series such as Homeland and Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.
Recently, Hoss appeared in Claire Burger's Langue Étrangère and Radu Jude's Do Not Expect Too Much From the End of the World, both receiving critical acclaim at film festivals. The Other Side marks Minoguchi's second feature following her successful debut with Relativity, a love story thriller that won accolades at the German Film Critics Awards.
Produced by Trini Götze and David Armati Lechner of Trimafilm, The Other Side will be distributed in Germany by X Verleih. Filming is scheduled to commence this summer, promising an exciting new chapter in Nina Hoss's illustrious career.
