Geraldo Bajrami reveals what Luke Williams told him before Notts County transfer

Notts County new signing Geraldo Bajrami is excited to get going after penning a two-year deal at Meadow Lane upon his arrival from Kidderminster Harriers.

Bajrami became the second central defender to join the National League side this summer when he signed last month. The 22 year-old made 38 appearances for Harriers and guided them to the fourth round of the FA Cup last season.

As he now joins the Magpies ahead of the new season, he said: "Just glad to finally have it over and done with. Obviously the facilities are great and everybody that comes here will tell you that.

"I had a few meetings with the gaffer over Zoom and in person as well. He's got good plans and I have total belief in what he's going to do this season."

Notts boss Luke Williams will have a versatile player at his disposal with Bajrami able to play in centre midfield and in a defensive role. He admits to being ready to play in any position: "Of course, I don't mind. Whatever the gaffer wants me to do I'll be there and give my best in whatever position he wants me to play.

"Last year at Kidderminster I played in central midfield for a few games, and I like to feel I've done a good enough job. Whererver the gaffer wants me to play, I'll be ready.

"When I was younger, I was a midfielder initially then I got transferred into a centre back role, a few players got injured and I've kind of stuck to it."

The defender has learned to quickly adapt to challenges he faces in the National League after a rough introduction. "Last season on my debut I dislocated my fingers against Bythe Spartans and at half time the gaffer said 'welcome to non-league football', I knew that was my wake up call," Bajrami added.

"It's part of the game, you need to do it and I'm a defender so I need to stop the ball going into the goal."
