Geraldo Bajrami issues message to Notts County team-mates following Aldershot victory

Notts County's Geraldo Bajrami has identified consistency as the key factor for his side in their quest for promotion out of the National League, following their 2-0 win over Aldershot on Tuesday evening.

It is now eight games unbeaten at the start of the season for the Magpies, with goals from Cedwyn Scott and Macaulay Langstaff securing Luke Williams' side their fourth successive win.

And the Albanian was instrumental in all of that, coming in to replace Aden Baldwin after the defender suffered an injury ahead of the visit from the Shots, and putting on another man of the match display from defence.

But despite their unbeaten start to the season, the 22-year-old was quick to reiterate the competitiveness of the National League and pointed out the one thing his side needs to be to maintain their excellent start.

"We just need to carry on, we don't need to get carried away," explained Bajrami.

"It's a strong league and everyone knows that, and consistency is the thing that gets you out of this league and hopefully we can continue to do that."

It was a performance that almost mirrored his midfield showing against Solihull Moors over the August Bank Holiday. Confident on the ball, strong in the tackle, and showing his trickery and pace to provide the opening goal for the Magpies.

And whilst his omission from the starting line-up came as a surprise against Dagenham and Redbridge, Bajrami explained that he was not downbeat about the decision and believed in the decision made by his manager, whilst also heaping praise on Jim O'Brien following his performance that day.

"Listen, it was a tactical change and I believe in the gaffer, and I have always said that, and I believe the fans do to, everyone does.

"I am there whenever I am needed, in midfield, at the back, up front I don't care, I'll play.

"I was on the bench against Dagenham, but Jim O'Brien came in and was arguably the best player on the pitch, so I have nothing to say about that.

"I have come in today; done my job and I am just happy I did and the whole team did."

It was something we have not seen from Bajrami so far, but his ability to beat a man and become a real threat going forward was on show for Scott's opener.

The Albanian picked the ball up from the halfway line and charged through the Aldershot defence with a combination of strength and elegance, eventually standing the ball up for the Notts number 19 to smash home his third goal of the season.

When asked about his assist for the goal, Bajrami said: "It opened up for me, I kept driving and then the full-back kind of came in and dived in, so I thought I would take it one more and thought if I shoot, he might block it.

"So, I decided to hang it up, and you know either Cedwyn or Macca are going to be there, one of them always is and tapped it in.

"I don't really mind if I score or assist, as long as we're winning, I don't care."
