Georginio Rutter's Leeds United progress, a new coach and possible exits on Jesse Marsch's agenda

Jesse Marsch faces the media on Thursday afternoon for his pre-match press conference. The Leeds United head coach will take questions from television, radio, print and online journalists at Thorp Arch ahead of the Aston Villa clash on Friday.

Here is a run-down of some of the main topics on the agenda for the American to address at the training ground today.

Injuries

Jesse Marsch’s agenda will no doubt be led by updates on the injuries Leeds United were dealing with at Cardiff City last weekend. Liam Cooper has already confirmed his readiness for the Aston Villa trip, but there are a few others fans will be keen to hear the latest on.

Adam Forshaw, Robin Koch and Tyler Adams were all expected to be in full training this week, while Patrick Bamford was back in the mix across last weekend, Marsch said. Updates will be expected on all of them.

Transfers

Marsch has made a point of avoiding the smallest shred of discussion around transfers this month, but you can expect the questions to continue. Georginio Rutter has been the unavoidable name all week and the Whites are understood to be progressing towards a conclusion in those negotiations.

The matter of outgoings might come up too. Joe Gelhardt, Leo Hjelde and Cody Drameh are among those in the conversation for departures.

Wober’s fitness

Max Wober’s debut was impressive from the bench on Sunday, but Marsch didn’t feel he could use him for longer than 45 minutes. The Austrian’s progress in training this week is sure to come up ahead of a longer stint at Villa Park, perhaps.

A new coach?

After the Newcastle United draw, Marsch said he hoped a replacement for Mark Jackson would be confirmed in a couple of days. Then, two days before the Cardiff City trip, Marsch again said it would be a couple of days.

What’s the hold-up? Marsch may finally put some meat on the bone in this press briefing.

Emery’s Villa

Marsch should be asked about the new Villa boss, his accolades and what he has done to sort out what was an ailing Birmingham outfit.
