Jayden Williams had made history in Stockbridge, Georgia, when he became the city's youngest mayor at 23. Less than a year later, his political career ended abruptly after the City Council removed him following an investigation into his conduct and use of a municipal credit card.
The Stockbridge City Council voted 3-0 to remove Williams from office, about 10 months after he was elected. The decision followed allegations involving sexually explicit communications with an 18-year-old high school student and improper purchases made with a city-issued credit card. The city, which has nearly 30,000 residents and is about 20 miles southeast of Atlanta, said formal action was taken through its established municipal processes.
