Georgia Bulldogs freshman wide receiver Nitro Tuggle is no longer planning to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Tuggle was planning to transfer, but announced his change of heart in a social media post.
“Now let’s stop asking. Go Dawgs,” said Tuggle on social media. In Tuggle’s post is a video of someone saying “I am not going anywhere.”
Tuggle, a former four-star recruit, showed promise during his freshman season with Georgia. He appeared in six games, but he made the largest impact in Georgia’s huge home win over Tennessee. Tuggle recorded a career-high two catches for 25 yards against Tennessee.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound freshman receiver has three years of eligibility remaining. Tuggle is an explosive athlete and a good route runner capable of generating separation against opposing defensive backs. His decision to stay boosts Georgia’s receiver depth for the Sugar Bowl.
Wide receiver Michael Jackson remains the only Georgia receiver in the portal. Tuggle’s decision is a reminder that Georgia players who enter (or are rumored to enter) the transfer portal can still return to UGA.
Michael Jackson, defensive back David Daniel-Sisavahn and cornerback Julian Humphrey are the three Georgia Bulldogs in the portal.
The NCAA transfer portal is open from Dec. 9 to Dec. 28, which is days before Georgia’s College Football Playoff quarterfinal game on Jan. 1.
