Trevor Etienne, the leading running back for No. 11 Georgia, will be sidelined for the upcoming game against No. 6 Tennessee due to a rib injury. Etienne sustained the injury during a game against Florida on Nov. 2 and saw limited action in the recent loss to Ole Miss, where he managed 34 yards on nine carries.
Initially listed as questionable for the crucial matchup against the Volunteers, Georgia officially ruled Etienne out in the injury report submitted to the Southeastern Conference on Thursday evening. The running back, in his first season with the Bulldogs after transferring from Florida, has been a key contributor with 477 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 5.0 yards per carry.
With Etienne unavailable, freshman Nate Frazier, who has accumulated 333 yards and three touchdowns, is set to take on a more prominent role in the backfield. Meanwhile, Cash Jones is questionable, and both Roderick Robinson and Branson Robinson will be sidelined for the game against Tennessee.
On the Tennessee side, quarterback Nico Iamaleava is dealing with a potential concussion and remains questionable as per the injury report.
Both teams will have to adjust their game plans accordingly as they prepare for this critical matchup. Stay updated on the latest news and developments in college football by signing up for poll alerts and following the AP Top 25 rankings throughout the season.
