A man from Georgia got arrested and charged after accusations that he was the mastermind of a sophisticated, countrywide fraud scheme which bilked major retailers upwards of $200,000.
According to Wealth of Geeks, Clayton County native Malcolm Griffin is accused of utilizing an altered digital barcode that was saved on his smartphone. Originally, it was a 75-cent manufacturer promotion for Summer’s Eve feminine care products, but the barcode instead registered a $50 discount per scan at self-checkout counters.
