Georgia Harrison 'regrets' expressing feelings about ex Jake McLean's death in public

Georgia Harrison has expressed her "regret" at sharing her feelings on the death of ex-boyfriend Jake McLean.

The 27-year-old former Love Island star went public with her thoughts after Jake, 33, was tragically killed after the car he was driving left the road on a cliff in Bodrum, Turkey on Sunday, July 3.

Georgia, who was on the ITV2 dating reality show in 2015, took to Instagram in the wake of the fatal crash and revealed that she had previously been in a relationship with Jake.

TOWIE star Yazmin Oukhellou, 28, who was injured in the crash and made a miracle escape by breaking her arm to get out of the car, has said that she was "upset" at the comments Georgia made.

Yazmin had been in an on/off relationship with Jake and wasn't impressed when Georgia shared a number of romantic snaps of her with Jake as a tribute.

She captioned the post: "Thankyou for giving me the confidence to love myself, thankyou for always routing for me, thankyou for loving me but most of all thankyou for being my mukka even in my road girl days.

"333 will always be my number for you and the way the world lost you will forever haunt me because it makes no sense rip jake you lit up a room and everyone who met you couldn’t help but love you."

This was backed up by Georgia replying to someone in the comment section that Jake had messaged her, asking whether she would join him for a few days in Turkey, which he eventually spent with Yazmin.

Georgia has since taken a break from social media as she deals with her grief but has released a statement to MailOnline via a spokesperson as she responds to the comments made about her posts in the wake of Jake's death.

The statement read: "I can confirm Georgia and Jake were in a serious relationship in the past and were still in regular contact during the time of his tragic accident, so Jake's passing came as a huge shock to her.

"Georgia now regrets making her feelings around Jake's death so public, but at the time of posting she was in a state of shock and pure grief.

"She is keen to respect Jake's family and loved one's request to grieve his death in private and has no further comment on the matter."

In an interview with The Sun at the weekend, Yazmin said that Georgia's post and comments had "upset" her as she recovered from the injuries she suffered in the crash.

Yazmin said: "I think Jake and Georgia have had a sexual relationship on and off.

"I don't think they have ever been together. But it was an upsetting thing to read.

"I wish she hadn't posted them and I'm not sure why she did.

"I guess grief can really hit people though. I don't want to get into a slanging match at all with anyone else — it's hard enough coming to terms with it all."
