Georgia football DB announces transfer destination

Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Julian Humphrey committed to the Texas A&M Aggies. Humphrey announced his plan to enter the transfer portal ahead of the SEC championship game.

Humphrey started several games for Georgia this fall and is ranked as the third-best cornerback in the portal, per 247Sports. Humphrey is the No. 33 overall prospect in the transfer portal.

Humphrey committed to Texas A&M over Texas, Miami, Oregon and Alabama. Humphrey, who is a former four-star recruit out of high school, should be expected to compete for a starting role in the Aggies’ secondary.

Humphrey recorded 10 tackles and four pass deflections during the 2024 college football season. The 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back received less playing time as Georgia’s season progressed. The Bulldogs started Daniel Harris in Humphrey’s place on the outside opposite of Daylen Everette.

Georgia’s No. 2 cornerback has been picked on frequently this season whether Daniel Harris or Julian Humphrey. Humphrey’s departure is a significant loss for Georgia’s secondary depth. Georgia freshman Ellis Robinson is expected to replace Humphrey as part of UGA’s defensive backs rotation.

The Bulldogs’ next game is on Jan. 1 at 8:45 p.m. ET. Georgia will play Indiana or Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.
