Georgia DE Travon Walker may be biggest boom-or-bust prospect for the Texans

Georgia defensive end Travon Walker is a fascinating prospect that could catapult the Houston Texans’ pass rush into the next level.

Walker could also be a mirage and the Texans’ ability to harass quarterbacks may still rely on former 2020 third-round defensive end Jonathan Greenard finding ways around the edge.

According to Luke Easterling from the Draft Wire, Walker represents one of the 2022 NFL draft class’ boom-or-bust prospects.

Walker is a rare athlete for his size, putting on a show at the NFL Scouting Combine after measuring at 6-5, and over 270 pounds. Combining that athleticism with the versatility to line up anywhere along the defensive front, in any scheme, and you’ve got a recipe for a potential No. 1 overall pick. The caveat? Walker’s production didn’t match his talent in college, and teams will have to believe that will change at the next level.

Some mock drafts have the Texans taking Walker with the No. 3 overall pick in Round 1. Others have Walker going No. 1 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Nevertheless the former Georgia Bulldog is highly touted in the media, but April 28, the first day of the NFL draft, will reveal just what teams think of him.
