The Georgia Bulldogs return some excellent depth at running back for the 2024 college football season. “That room has been really good in camp. They’ve worked really hard,” said Georgia football coach Kirby Smart.
Georgia’s top running back is expected to be Florida transfer Trevor Etienne, who faces a possible suspension for the season opener. “I feel like Trevor’s (Etienne) the leader of the room and understands things and does a really good job of setting the tempo and setting the standard,” said Smart.
Etienne recorded 131 carries for 753 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns last season. He also added 21 receptions for 172 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. Etienne is a first-team All-SEC selection.
Beyond Etienne is sophomore running back Roderick Robinson. Robinson is coming off a strong freshman season. “Rod’s (Robinson) been dealing with a little bit of a toe injury,” said Smart. Robinson is projected to be healthy for the season opener against Clemson.
Running back Branson Robinson is back after suffering a torn patella tendon last year in fall camp. Robinson, much like Roderick Robinson, runs with a bruising style.
After Robinson is walk-on Cash Jones. “You know, Cash (Jones) is a guy that people just don’t give enough credit to, and he’s a really good back. He’s great at picking things up,” noted Smart. Jones is one of Georgia’s better receiving backs.
The Bulldogs signed three true freshmen in Dwight Phillips, Chauncey Bowens and Nate Frazier. Frazier has turned the most heads in fall camp and is our running back No. 5.
