This past week, Tipico Sportsbook released its betting lines for a majority of the Week 1 games for the 2022 college football season.
Included in that lineup is the Georgia vs. Oregon matchup in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game from Atlanta.
Tipico’s odds for Georgia vs. Oregon:
Spread: Georgia -18.5 (-108)
Moneyline: Georgia -1,100
Tipico lists Georgia’s win probability at 87 percent.
Georgia is likely to open the season ranked somewhere in the top-four — most outlets are projecting No. 3 — while Oregon’s starting position is anybody’s guess, but likely will fall somewhere between 10-15.
This will be Dan Lanning’s first game as head coach of the Oregon Ducks. Lanning, who served under Kirby Smart as UGA’s defensive coordinator for three years, accepted the Oregon job in mid-December but still coached with the Bulldogs through the national title.
Our friends at Ducks Wire had some concerns with the high point spread for this game:
Seems a bit high, no? That’s basically saying this game — one between two top-15 teams — is going to be a blowout. Despite the fact Georgia lost a majority of its historic defense from last season and had 15 players get drafted to the NFL this spring, the Bulldogs are projected to wax the Ducks.
A lot of that depends on what happens with the quarterback position in Eugene. If Bo Nix wins the starting job, he can bring his SEC experience to the table and likely calm the rest of the youthful team, having been on that stage before.
The game will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET and will air on ABC on September 3.
