Our film critic Emma Jones takes us through the highlights as the 83rd Venice International Film Festival kicks off this Wednesday.
"Slumdog Millionaire" director Danny Boyle will open the festival with his new film "Ink", which tracks the rise of Rupert Murdoch to media magnate.
Also in competition, Robert Pattinson teams up with an indie filmmaker for his latest film "Primetime" (pictured), about a US reality show centered on sting operations to catch paedophiles. Meanwhile, George Clooney will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award, the Golden Lion.
