George Best's ex-wife Alex claims she is 'haunted by his ghost'

George Best's ex-wife has claimed the footballer's spirit could be in her Surrey home.

Alex Best says since the Belfast man's death sixteen years ago, she has been experiencing strange things like heavy furniture moving on its own and lights flickering, according to the Mirror.

She said: “I’m convinced spirits have come to visit my 200-year-old house.

“And now I think George could have been one of them.”

The 49-year-old said her first experience of this happened on the day of the Manchester United legend's funeral in 2005.

Alex added: “On the day of George’s funeral I was staying at a hotel in Belfast.

“I remember it was an early start that day and obviously it was very emotional. Just as I was leaving through the hotel door the shower turned on full blast. On its own.”

In footage from her cottage, a book moves from a shelf around six inches on its own. Investigator Barri Ghai looks and finds that it is an authorised biography of George Best.

Speaking about her home, Alex later added: “The funny thing is, even with all the things that have happened here, I’ve always had a lovely feeling about this place.

“It’s never felt scary or sinister to me. All the things that ever happened were only ever playful and it’s always had a warm cosy feeling."

The model has now enlisted the help of paranormal professionals from new TV documentary series 'Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted'.

Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted is available to stream from Friday January 21 exclusively on discovery+
