Ex-Geordie Shore star Chloe Ferry has undergone DNA testing a bid to boost her thinning locks - as she believes 'stress' is making her hair lank. The glamorous reality TV star has recently returned to her brunette roots after years of hitting the bleach to maintain her signature blonde hair, causing serious damage in the process.
Now Chloe has undergone a genetic test used to discover the underlying factors of the development of alopecia and hair loss - at award-winning hair transplant clinic Juvida. The test also focuses on providing fully-customised treatments for alopecia - a condition that hit the headlines after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars for joking about Jada Pinkett Smith's buzzcut for her alopecia areata.
The TV personality, who doesn't have alopecia areata but believes her hair is thinning due to her stress levels being 'very up and down', hopes the genetic information revealed by the test will unlock the secrets to better locks. Chloe said: "A couple of years ago I was struggling with my hair because of bleaching and hair extensions. I want my hair for the summer to be really thick and healthy.
"My stress is very up and down at the minute, I think with covid and stuff. I feel I'm alright now. [But] that's probably why my hair's so thin. I feel hair is the most important thing on a person. Once I've had a blow dry I feel like Kim Kardashian."
The 26-year-old had a quick tongue and cheek swab taken before the samples were shipped off to a lab in Barcelona. There, hair experts will analyse the genetic contents and The results will then be sent back to Juvida Clinics who will discuss her results and then arrange the formulation of the perfect treatment for her hair.
Chloe said: "They put the swab on your tongue and the sides of your mouth - it was so quick. They send it over to Barcelona to get a DNA analysis done. It's to make sure I get the right hair products to look after my hair. I'm really hoping the DNA testing will help me continue my journey to thicker, more luscious long locks."
