Geordie Shore's Dee Nguyen forced to apologise after mocking disabled man on dating app Hinge

Less than two years after being banned from ever appearing on another MTV show after posting an offensive Black Lives Matter tweet, ex Geordie Shore star Dee Nguyen has been publicly shamed for mocking a disabled man on a dating app.

Dee, 29,, appeared on the Newcastle-based reality show in 2018 when the cast and crew, including Chloe Ferry and Sophie Kasaei, travelled to Australia to film a series. She was one of four Aussies to join the show that year, alongside Alex Macpherson, Nick Murdoch and Chrysten Zenon and after her stint on Geordie Shore, went onto star in another MTV show, The Challenge.

However, MTV said they wouldn't be employing her again when in 2020, she tweeted: "DK why some of you think I’m anti-BLM. I’ve been saying that since the day I lost my virginity.’ Firing back at critics, she then allegedly ranted: "People die every f*****g day. U don’t know me or what I do. I suggest u wake the f*** up and get off social media."

MTV cut all ties with Dee as a result of her post and, this week, she has landed in hot water again after making a joke at rhe expense of a man she saw on famous dating app Hinge.. The man in question is Australian artist and podcast star Kyle Montgomery, who has been quadriplegic since 2019.

Dee filmed of her swiping through Hinge and spotting a message from Kyle. Sharing it on her TikTok account, she said he'd asked her to ‘go dancing,' before smirking as she showed a photo of Kyle in his wheelchair.

Outing Dee for her discrimination, Kyle posted a photo of Dee, writing: "This person made an able-ist joke about me, before adding:: "This isn't about retaliation, This is about harmful casual ableism. Disabled people are just people. Please help me spread awareness so others don't get shamed like me.”

After being made aware of Kyle's Insta post about her, Dee took to TikTok to issue an apology, saying@: " “So a few weeks ago I made that stupid TikTok video.

"When I came across Kyle’s profile, he responded to one of my prompts saying that he wanted to go dance with me.

“I scroll down. I saw that he was in a wheelchair – there’s nothing wrong with that, by the way. I scroll down further and I listen to one of his voice prompts that said, ‘If you’re not a fan of f***ed up, dark humour, then we probably won’t get along.”

“Obviously I thought that was punny [a funny pun] and I didn’t mean to post that video in a way that was mocking him. So when he reached out saying he was thoroughly upset, I personally DM'd him and said I was sorry.”

Sharing a thread of the written apology she sent to Kyle, Dee added: "Genuinely from the bottom of my heart I am sorry, Kyle. I'm sorry to the whole disabled community for any hurt or upset that you've felt by my video.

“I'm still learning as a human - obviously I have a lot of learning to do. I hope that you can forgive me, and I hope that we can meet up for coffee or even have a Zoom chat, so I can be more understanding and learn more about you and your struggles and what the community goes through
