Geordie Hospital star and Indiana Jones fan Kit Matthews got a blockbuster of a surprise on a family day out in Northumberland.
Six-year-old Kit, from Retford in Nottinghamshire, captured the hearts of viewers in the Channel 4 documentary as he was fitted with a pioneering portable "Berlin Heart" machine while he was waiting for a transplant. A Berlin Heart takes over the "pumping" operation while someone is in heart failure.
He was then successfully given a new heart and has raised money for the Children's Heart Unit Fund by walking, cycling, scooting and swimming 21 miles in 21 days. Later this month, he is set to take part in the Transplant Games, where he will be competing in sprints, to long jumps, to a ball throw at the competition in Coventry.
