'Gentleman' who died in Cork workplace accident named as Tadgh O'Sullivan as funeral details emerge

The man who was killed in a workplace accident in North Cork yesterday has been named as local woodcutter Tadgh O'Sullivan.

The father-of-four, in his 60s, was from Dromina, just outside Charleville.

Described by locals as a "true character," a "gentleman" and a "lovely man," Tadgh was very well-known in the area and worked cutting and selling firewood and doing tool repairs.

CorkBeo reported that after a tragic accident, while working at a timber yard at Cherry Hill, he was pronounced dead yesterday afternoon and was taken to CUH.

Mr O’Sullivan of Killabraher, Dromina will lie in repose at his home tomorrow (Sat) afternoon from 4pm to 8pm. His requiem mass will take place at St Peter and Paul’s Church in Dromina on Sunday at 12.30pm with a service following at Shannon Crematorioum at 4pm.

The popular and respected wood cutter was a “cherished grandfather” to Lily Mae, Mollie, Oliver and Alfie. He is also survived by his siblings Haulie, Eugene and Theresa, brothers and sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends.
