'Gentle' LFC fan dies, major roadworks set to end and mum's weight loss

Fans at Anfield made sure dad who died minutes before Benfica match was 'not alone' in final moments

A 'gentle' dad who died minutes before Liverpool's Champions League match against Benfica at Anfield was "in the best possible place he would have wanted to be".

Terrance 'Terry' Judge, from Rainhill, died after collapsing minutes before kick-off on Wednesday, April 13. Terry, 63, his son Oliver, 19, and brother had just got to their seats in the stadium when he said he wasn't feeling well.

Moments later Terry collapsed and dozens of Liverpool FC supporters, paramedics and stewards rushed to help him. He was taken to the Royal Liverpool Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.

Terry's wife Louise, 50, said her husband's death came as a "huge shock" and the family is devastated. She added she was comforted by the hundreds of LFC fans who have paid tribute as well as her family and friends who have reached out over the last four days.

Liverpool roads free from all ‘major’ works by end of summer

Liverpool’s roads will be free from all ‘major works’ come September, according to a spokesperson for Liverpool city council.

Over the last two years, a number of high profile scheme have hit trouble and faced significant delays due to the collapse of contractors. Elsewhere, large scale project have gradually edging closer towards completion. According to a council spokesperson, all major projects currently underway should be completed by autumn - with a number of high profile schemes set to finish in a more immediate timescale.

The A565, including Great Howard Street and Derby Road, is one of the key arteries from the city centre to the north of Liverpool but has faced on-going works along the stretch of road for a considerable amount of time. The council has confirmed that these works will be coming to an end “in the next couple of weeks.”

Mum 'falling over all the time' until she made one change

A mum told how she dropped six dress sizes after avoiding looking at herself in the mirror for years.

Carmel Healey, from Crosby, ballooned to 17 stone at her heaviest and was a size 22 in clothes. The 59-year-old said she started piling on the pounds in the last few years of her career as an Associate Director of Nursing for the NHS, during which time she would often skip lunch, grab junk food on the go and order takeaways when she got home.

Carmel made the decision to take early retirement in 2017 after working for the NHS for 38 years as a nurse and a midwife, following the death of a family member. It was after taking retirement that Carmel bought a treadmill and decided to start exercising, but she soon had another setback when she suffered from a knee injury which left her needing physiotherapy.

She decided to join Slimming World group in September 2020 and in the space of 12 months she managed to reach her target weight of losing five and a half stone by following Slimming World's Food Optimising Plan, which aims to re-educate people on getting the balance right on the types of food they eat. But her weight loss didn't stop there - and she has now lost six and a half stone in total.
