Scarabs are a brand new creature that have been added to Genshin Impact in the latest update, 3.1. Scarabs are pretty much exclusive to the newly expanded Sumeru region, and they’re necessary to ascend Cyno, one of the brand new characters added in the game. You need x168 Scarab Beetles in total if you want to ascend him to level 90.
As a result, if you start collecting scarabs now, you won’t find yourself lacking them in the near future, which is very handy indeed. In this guide we’re breaking down some of the best places you can investigate in order to find Scarabs in Genshin Impact 3.1.
While you hunt down Scarabs in Sumeru, make sure to check out the Redcrest locations and collect them too.
What you need to know about Scarabs – Genshin Impact
In this guide we’ll be giving you several maps to help you discover Scarabs, but you should keep in mind that these maps don’t have elevation information on them, and therefore some of the scarabs could be underground, or above you.
Scarabs may be living creatures, but you don’t need to attack them to collect them. In fact, attacking them will make them retreat underground. Once you get close enough you’ll be able to collect them like any other fruit or vegetable in the game world.
Sumeru Scarab location map – Genshin Impact
On the map above you can see all the Scarab locations in Genshin Impact’s Sumeru region. If you want some help knowing where to focus your efforts, just look at our more detailed maps below. Maps are courtesy of Genshin Impact Interactive Map.
The Mausoleum of King Deshret Scarabs – Genshin Impact
The Mausoleum of King Deshret has plenty of Scarabs surrounding its ground, in addition to a fair few teleport sites.
The Dune of Carouses Scarabs – Genshin Impact
The Dune of Carouses has a few Scarabs for you to find, but there are even more West of the Dune, and North of the Mausoleum, next to a Domain entrance.
Sobek Oasis Scarabs – Genshin Impact
Sobek Oasis, found up hill East of the Mausoleum, has a fair few Scarabs in the nearby area, though you might need to climb and descend from some cliffs to find them all.
The Dune of Elusion Scarabs – Genshin Impact
After visiting the Sobek Oasis, maybe head down the cliff to the Dune of Elusion to finish up this run for Scarabs, as there are a few in the nearby area.
Once you’ve visited all of these locations and cleaned up the Scarabs on our maps, you can either find the stragglers on our big map above, or start back at the Mausoleum to start collecting all over again.
