Generous Doonhamers have sent a van load of supplies to help victims of a devastating earthquake in Turkey.
Blankets, clothing and food were taken from the Dumfries and Galloway Multicultural Association to Glasgow Airport on Thursday after kind-hearted locals donated much-needed items for those misplaced by the disaster. Last month massive earthquakes in Turkey and Syria devastated the countries with more than 50,000 estimated to have been killed and more than 20 million people affected by the quake.
An appeal went out locally for winter coats and blankets for all ages, baby food, long-lasting food, cans, nappies and hygiene products and people in the area have delivered.
Dumfries and Galloway Multicultural Association chief executive Sitki Nalci said: “The response for goods has been tremendous.
“ We took one full van of brand new clothing to the airport ready to fly to Turkey.
“We want to thank everyone who has donated clothing, food, money or all three.”
