Brisbane's affordability, gender equality, and top universities make it an almost world-beating city for Gen Z, according to a recent survey.
Research agency Urbanity Impact conducted the research for German brand Peek & Cloppenburg, placing Brisbane fourth on the list of "prominent, international cities based on their reputation as living destinations for young people".
Digital services, government digitalisation, and internationalism also helped give Brisbane a boost, placing the city behind Berlin in Germany, Bern in Switzerland, and Stockholm in Sweden.
However, the city ranked poorly in nightlife, influencer activity, and social entrepreneurship categories.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the results were no surprise, describing the city as "Australia's best-kept secret".
"As usual, Gen Z are in the know and have embraced living in the river city," Mr Schrinner said.
"Ranking 10th globally in greatest presence of digital services, our start-up and digital business sector is one of the most prolific in the country.
"Brisbane's commitment to becoming a cleaner, greener city ensures that Brisbane remains a vibrant and sustainable place to live for current and future residents.
"When taking into account selection criteria like multiculturalism, nightlife, remote work, and social equality, there isn't much that Brisbane doesn't offer to the digital generation.
"As we head towards our status as an Olympic and Paralympic city in 2032, we will continue to expand with new infrastructure, transport, and green spaces and create a city primed for the digital pioneers of tomorrow."
Three other Australian cities featured: Melbourne ranked 12th, Perth 19th, and Sydney 61st.
