The View guest host Sheryl Underwood addresses feud with former co-star Sharon Osbourne

Sheryl Underwood has addressed her famous feud with former The Talk co-panelist Sharon Osbourne during her time as a guest host on The View.

Five years after Underwood and Osbourne got into a heated on-air clash about racism and the British Royal Family, Underwood reflected on the incident during her guest-hosting gig on The View, where she is stepping in for the week while Alyssa Farah Griffin’s maternity leave continues.

As the co-hosts of The View discussed hot topics like celebrity feuds during Tuesday’s show, Sunny Hostin asked Underwood, 62, for her perspective due to her “pretty big spat” and “feud over race” with Osbourne.

The comedian replied, “I don’t like to beef with my coworkers,” adding that in the moment, she had been “sitting in the middle of it looking around like, ‘what the hell?’”

During the heated exchange in 2021, Osbourne defended Piers Morgan after he had been widely criticized for his remarks about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. She then demanded that Underwood “educate” her and told her not to cry during the episode.

Sunny Hostin and Sheryl Underwood discussed Underwood's feud with Sharon Osbourne during Tuesday's episode of 'The View' (ABC/The View)

“It started because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did an Oprah Winfrey interview, and the Duchess said [she] experienced racism at the hands of the Royal Family,” Underwood recalled on The View Tuesday. “And Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne's friend, really went into it, defending the Royal Family and saying that was not racism. I think, at that point, Sharon Osbourne got involved and defended Piers Morgan and said there wasn't racism.”

The tense moment brought a nearly month-long hiatus of the daily talk show as an internal investigation was launched, which led to Osbourne’s firing. The Talk was ultimately canceled three years later.

Underwood continued, “I still believe there's some love between me and Sharon Osbourne.”

“I tried to reach out when Ozzy passed,” she said, referring to Ozzy Osbourne — Sharon’s husband of 43 years — who died of a heart attack in July 2025.

Underwood went on to say about Osbourne: “I sat next to her for years, and I do believe that when she's hurt, she's really hurt. I believe that what really happened to me, I'd gotten into a couple of problem discussions on The Talk. Y'all know. Amen, right? God let me live to correct some of the things that I said.”

Longtime The View star Joy Behar then quipped about the former rival show, “And God canceled that show.”
