Gemma Atkinson's inspiring post about BRITs' red carpet wins huge praise from Gorka

Gemma Atkinson has been praised by her fans and fiance Gorka Marquez for her inspiring post about the BRIT Awards red carpet.

The 37-year-old actress attended the glitzy awards ceremony on Tuesday night and she pulled out all the stops in a glittering gown.

But Gemma revealed the truth behind walking a red carpet and just how intimidating it can be for celebrities from all walks of showbiz.

Alongside some images from the night, the former Hollyoaks star wrote: "Red carpets! I used to get SO nervous walking them and cringe inside knowing that despite what you wear, how you stand or who you are, people will still msg you directly or comment on articles saying how bad they think you look.

"I don’t know if it’s an age thing, being a mum now or just a combination of taking care of myself but I now don’t let any of the above bother me and it’s such a refreshing space to be in!

"Giving a stranger the power to affect your mood is soul destroying and a complete waste of your time. Especially a stranger who’s sat alone on the internet."

She added in her powerful statement: "Don’t do it. Know your worth, know who you are and rock what you wana rock!

"Shape, size, whatever, just do you!

"I actually spoke to an actress last night who is and looked beautiful, she was joking that tomorrow she’ll either be 'too fat' or 'too thin' in her dress, she then followed it with 'I just smile to myself, and think, oh just f**k off.'"

Gemma received so much praise for her moving post, from fans and celebrity pals.

Meanwhile, fans were thrilled to see Gemma being so honest.

One person wrote: "It’s refreshing to see a celebrity being themselves (human) & relatable. Also not covered in fake tan & make up! Thank you for keeping it real you look incredible."

A second penned: "Beautiful and such a down to earth woman! love listening to you on the radio most days."

"Absolutely, always be comfortable with yourself!! Only opinions that really matter are the people closest to you," a third added.

In recent weeks, Gemma celebrated her fourth anniversary with supportive Strictly Come Dancing star Gorka.

The mum-of-one shared a series of loved-up snaps with her Spanish fiancé- much to her fans' delight.

The pics range from glam holiday shots of the pair to an adorable photo of Gorka, 31, feeding the couple's daughter, Mia.

Captioning the montage, which is accompanied by Pink's Leave Me Alone (I’m Lonely), Gemma wrote: "4 years. You lucky sod. This song will forever be ours… “Go away!….But, come back yeh? @gorka_marquez."

Fans flocked to the comment section to congratulate the couple, with one writing: “Happy anniversary to you both. You make such a beautiful couple. Wonderful memories”.

While another gushed: “Happy anniversary to you both. You are superb role models for the younger generation”.
