Gemma Atkinson saw the funny side as she shared her daughter's latest comparison as her body changes through pregnancy. The Hits Radio host announced last month that she is expecting her second child with her Strictly Come Dancing star fiance Gorka Marquez.
The loved-up couple, who met on the BBC One dance show in 2017 and already share a daughter Mia, took to Instagram to share the news alongside a string of black and white images. They also confirmed they'd be adding a boy to their growing family and that he is due in the summer, with Gemma already four and a half months pregnant.
One image showed Gemma gazing at her blossoming bump before she grinned for a selfie with her husband-to-be and their little girl as they wait to become a family-of-four - or six if you include Gemma's beloved dogs Ollie and Norman. "Impossible to hide my belly any longer. I’ve officially 'popped'," she wrote in the caption to her millions of followers.
"Our baby boy will be joining our family later this year." She added: "We feel so incredibly blessed and Grateful to be on this journey again. Mia is absolutely thrilled! Although we may need to do some negotiating on names, as so far she’s adamant he’s going to be called Barbie."
In one video posted on Instagram of her working out in the gym with Mia by her side, Gemma shared how cellulite has returned, and in "full force", just like when she was pregnant with Mia. Then sharing how daughter Mia took the news, the former soap star revealed: "When we told Mia she was going to be a sister she said 'is that why your belly is a bit like Daddy pigs' [crying laughing emojis]. It did make me laugh, and I’m excited to see the changes take place again and show Mia proudly what her mum's body is doing."
But it appears now Mia has changed her mind about what her mum's changing body looks like as she grows her baby brother. Alongside a picture of Puss in Boots from the Shrek films, Gemma typed on her Instagram Story: "Mia first said my belly was 'a bit like daddy pigs'.
"After watching Shrek today she's now decided I'm like overweight Puss in Boots," with a string of crying laughing emojis. The 38-year-old then added: "I'm actually not far off tbf!"
It comes after fans were concerned about Gemma's breathless appearance in an Instagram video over the weekend. The former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale actress was showing off her latest collection with Manchester fashion brand In The Style and sparked some concern from her followers as someone pointed out she appeared "breathless".
After watching one of the videos of Gemma showing off an outfit, one follower messaged her. They said: "Have you had your iron levels checked missus? You sound a bit breathless. That can be a sign of low iron in pregnancy. [Ask] your midwife to run some bloods for you."
Gemma shared the message to her Instagram Story and reassured her followers. Gemma, from Bury, said: "I've been asked this a lot. Thanks for concern. My bloods are checked regularly as is my BP. Both before and during pregnancy (because I find it amazing how our bodies work). All results are spot on and luckily have been for years."
Gemma added: "In fact, my last blood pressure check a week ago I was told, 'Gosh you’re as chilled as you look.' Breathlessness is common in pregnancy due to everything shifting and moving about to make room. I’m across my health and in very good hands with my midwife too," followed by a heart emoji.
