Gemma Atkinson hits back saying 'we cannot win' with female body as stuns in new clothing range

Gemma Atkinson has hit back at a comment from one of her followers as she gave her fans a sneak peek at her latest clothing collection. The former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star headed for a day modeling her latest range for In The Style.

Gemma is one of the Manchester fashion brand's main collaborators and only launched a new autumn collection last month. But on Thursday (October 6), the Hits Radio host revealed she's going to be imminently dropping another set of items 'focusing on the run-up to Christmas parties' and for 'autumn brunches.

The 37-year-old then started to show her millions of followers some of the gorgeous outfits. In the first,, Gemma looked stunning as she posed in an oversized pink suit - featuring a blazer and matching trousers. With her blonde hair slicked back into a stylish bun, the TV and radio star then unveiled they had created a matching waistcoat which she had hidden uner the blazer.

She then posed in a pink and purple matching shirt and trousers set as well as a black cami top with chained straps which she wore tucked into a silky striped skirt. Gemma and the In The Style team also showed a slinky maxi dress in the same black and white striped pattern which showed off her gym-honed curves.

Gemma explained how she wore in a size 10 in all the items then shared a post which read: "A lot of you asked last time to see some of the outfits of ladies a different shape and size to me. Lauren is a size 18 so she did some shots for @inthestyle studio." She then shared a selection of gorgeous snaps of Lauren modeling some of the same items.

But it didn't appear to impress everyone as Gemma shared a screenshot of a message she had received in response. It read: "How about a more realistic size 18. Brands love to show how diverse they are by using 'plus size models' but really they don't represent actual plus size people."

it went on: "Why don't you model your clothes on somebody with a full belly or larger legs if you actually want to show that your clothes are accessible to everybody." However, Gemma was quick to clap back. "We genuinely cannot win when it comes to the female body."

The mum-of-one continued: "With every range I'm either not making them small enough, not making them big enough or not making them ok for women who train. It's exhausting constantly trying to constantly defend a woman and her body. I'm a size 10 and almost 74kg which on paper may not seem 'realistic'.

"But it's true. That's my body. Lauren is a size 18. That's her body and labeling it 'not realistic' compared to other size 18 women is part of the problem."

Gemma added: "Ladies... yours, mine, OUR bodies are all different. And the majority of ppl I know are just trying their best to feel good and be happy about it. Please don't let the opinions of others get in the way," alongside a string of red heart emojis.

Back in the summer, Gemma wasn't short of compliments after she shared a look at her swimwear collection with In The Style She took to share a then-first look at the stunning collection as she took part in a photoshoot but said it had been 'daunting' to be back in front of the camera in swimwear for the first time in 11 years.

But keeping up with her honest posts that she has become known for amongst her loyal following, Gemma returned to Instagram on the following day and showed fans what she really looks like on a regular basis. In the first video the former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star swished her blonde locks, which had been styled into beautiful beachy waves, as she turned to face the camera. She then flashed a wide smile before getting from her seat to show her full look.

She could be seen donning a black bikini top which had been trimmed with white and a pair of black and white wide-leg trousers which form part of the cover-ups in the collection. A second video, however, showed Gemma this morning. She was filmed in her living room, with her hair tied up into a messy bun on top of her head while wearing a white oversized t-shirt and polka-dot pyjama bottoms. She turned her head to the camera with a mouthful of food from her container.
