Gemma Atkinson has left fans wanting a word 'brought back' after she used it in her latest honest Instagram post. The Hits Radio host marked the start of a new month with a tongue-in-cheek update on how she's feeling after confirming she's four and a half months into her second pregnancy.
Bury-born Gemma announced earlier this month that she and her fiance Gorka Marquez are expecting again. The loved-up couple, who met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 before welcoming daughter Mia in July 2019, shared the news alongside a string of sweet snaps and confirmed they were expecting a baby boy in the summer.
She has since been offering fans little updates into how she's been getting on so far, including recently asking for fans' advice. In a recent video on her Instagram Story, the former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star wanted to know if anyone else had experienced a C-section during their first pregnancy followed by a vaginal birth for their second.
The mum-of-two-to-be, who looked glowing, could be seen relaxing at her Greater Manchester home alongside three-year-old Mia as she said: "I'm just over fourth months now with this little fella in here who's not so little, actually. He's big." Gemma, 38, then asked: "Did any of you guys have an emergency section followed by a vaginal birth? I don't want to say normal birth because no birth is 'normal' is it?
"You get a baby at the end and we're all extremely, extremely lucky but I'd be lying if I said it's not something I've thought about." She then briefly mentioned her first labour with Mia which was quite traumatic for both mother and baby as well as for dad, Gorka. "Obviously last time with Mia it was a success because we are both here but it didn't go as I imagined it would," she said with a laugh.
"So I'm just looking for a bit of, 'I was in the same situation and I had a vaginal birth the second time' if anyone has experience that can you just let me know and let me know how it was."
Now, Gemma has offered a fresh take on how she feels by miming a sound on Instagram. In the video, the TV and radio star can be seeing moving her lips to someone elses voice as they say: "Mental health check... I checked. I'm f****d." In the clip, she could be seen falling back ino the sofa in her Greater Manchester home.
She added in the caption: "Exhausted. But hey, At least it’s no longer January!" Former Corrie star Brooke Vincent was quick to respond with a string of crying laughing emoji while others were tickled by the mention of 'chebs' which is actually Scottish slang for breasts. @stobbsy5 posted: "Chebs [crying laughing emojis] bring back that word!!! Xx." @laura_and_the_land_boys wrote: "Chebs lol." @elansu_activewear added: "Chebs [crying laughing emoji]."
Gemma also shared how she has opted to enlist a private midwife during her second pregnancy journey so she can undergo regular checks whilst also having the midwife at the end of the phone for all her and partner Gorka's concerns. "I love our NHS but know how stretched they are and with the strikes still happening I felt uneasy at the thought of history repeating itself with not enough staff to help," she explained.
She added that she full supports the nurses strikes and said they deserved to be paid "a hell of a lot more for what they do." It comes after Gemma thanked the staff at Bolton Hospital for saving both her and Mia's life during her terrifying labour nearly four years ago. She needed an emergency C-section when doctors realised Mia's heart rate had dropped and Gemma almost died when she lost nearly a litre of blood after suffering a haemorrhage.
In a follow-up video, Gemma said Bolton Hospital were "wonderful" but added; "I still don't know why Mia was so small, I still don't know why I haemorrhaged. I still don't know anything." But she added that all the additional tests and scans she is having is making her feel more "relaxed". She added: "I'm kind of seeing it as I'm taking the load off, I guess, the NHS who are just so overstretched and underpaid. So hopefully me doing this side of the pregnancy this way it kind of frees a spot up for someone who needs it."
