Gemini 3 is packed with features — but these are the 3 you need to know about

Gemini 3.

Google brought out all the stops to deliver Gemini 3 this year, its most intelligent model thus far. And the internet is genuinely impressed by the flood of new features.

Google’s aim was simple to describe, yet harder to execute: to allow you to bring any of your ideas to life. We’ll dive into what’s new for Gemini users, and you can later judge for yourself whether that mission was a success. A mini spoiler for the impatient: Gemini 3 is already beating ChatGPT in key benchmarks.

So far, we’ve seen Gemini 3 deliver answers in interactive visual layouts, search using what your camera is pointing at in real-time, and create stunning infographics (yes, with text you can actually read). The news gets even better if you’re a student in a US college, as you could be eligible for a free full-year subscription to Gemini AI Pro.

Google's AI search mode

As Google Search continues pursuing its AI-first path, you can now access Gemini 3 through Google’s home page using AI search.

In two simple steps, you can flick on AI mode and Gemini’s answer skips the list of links synonymous with Google Search and instead gives you the answer to your question directly. Although a short list of sources is still included for the curious.

Whether you’re interested in knowing the perfect way to bake salmon or to compare prices of the latest iPhone, Google’s AI search mode delivers the results you’re seeking within the same chat dialogue.

Expect your search results to be smarter and more personalised as Gemini 3 blends in the input from multiple sources to create a single, coherent response. Better AI Overviews at the top of your search results are also heading your way.

Google says Gemini 3 is transforming Search because it’s built to grasp unprecedented depth and nuance, even for the toughest of your questions.

Nano Banana Pro

Nano Banana, Google’s AI image generation model, went viral when it first launched, since it could edit your images while preserving their main features or characters.

Built on Gemini 3, Google has now introduced Nano Banana Pro, offering AI image generation with studio-grade control abilities.

Create multi-texture infographics, localize text and products, and amp up the drama of your snaps with precise color grading. If you have a photo that needs editing, Nano Banana Pro will almost certainly deliver. Want to create a scene from scratch? Using Nano Banana Pro means consistent characters in each frame.

Don’t even worry about image quality — Nano Banana Pro turns your everyday prompts into crisp 4K visuals. And because it can generate images in almost any aspect ratio, you can post your creations anywhere, from Instagram Stories to YouTube thumbnails.

Gemini app

AI Search is great for kicking off your hunt for the info you need, but when you need more firepower, the revamped Gemini app is ready to step in — adapting to your task on the fly and scaling up to whatever challenge you throw at it.

The new app blends in all the features discussed above and more. Of course, Gemini got smarter thanks to its newest model, Gemini 3, which means responses should feel better formatted and overall just more helpful.

But perhaps one of the new features that stand out the most is the app’s ability to reshape what you see on screen, coming in hot in two different formats, which Google is calling “generative interfaces”: visual layout and dynamic view.

Opting for the visual layout mimics receiving information in the form of a neat digital magazine, blending text with visuals where it matters the most.

When a quick answer won’t cut it, switching on Dynamic View tells Gemini you’re looking for something richer — a custom, interactive mini-app built around your prompt.

Ask for an infographic on climate change, for example, and you’ll get a full simulator with a temperature slider that shows how different warming levels reshape the planet. Did you request a balanced weekly meal plan? Gemini serves up recipes, nutritional stats, and even images of the dishes it’s proposing, so you’ll know exactly what you’re making.

Dynamic view and visual layout responses may take a bit longer to appear, but what you get in return is a polished, scroll-stopping interface that’s genuinely fun to explore.

And don’t forget about Gemini Agent, which you can think of as your own project manager. To make the most of your AI agent, connect it with Gmail and Calendar and use it to add handy reminders or even to offer a helping hand with organizing your inbox.
