Olympic cycling star Sir Jason Kenny has been targeted by thieves after having his seat stolen from his electronic bike as it was left outside a supermarket near his Cheshire home.
Kenny became Great Britain's most decorated Olympian when he won gold in the Kieran sprint race on the velodrome at the Tokyo Olympic Games last year - taking his career total to seven gold medals. After last year's Games the Olympian announced he was retiring to take the role of men's sprint coach with British Cycling.
The 34-year-old was shopping at Tesco in Congleton on Sunday when his seat was stolen from his e-bike - a Tern GSD model.
Kenny posted on Twitter appealing for anybody who had his saddle to return it. He said: "If someone’s little darling in the Congleton area has just come home from Tesco with a seat post I’d very much like it back please."
The former track sprinter lives in Cheshire with wife Laura, herself a five-time Olympic champion, and their son Albie. Laura Kenny is preparing to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Laura Kenny, formerly from Harlow in Essex, told CheshireLive how she had 'fallen in love' with the county, close to the home of British Cycling at the Manchester Velodrome .
She said: "I wouldn't go back, as much as that's going to upset the southerners, Cheshire is my home, it just is, it feels like home, everything about it and I just wouldn't go back.
"Everyone is just so welcoming, like it doesn't matter whether you're going into the corner shop or whether you're going into the butchers, it's such a nice feeling.
"It's just so friendly, I'm not saying that the south wasn't like that because I know I'm going to upset southerners by saying this is home but it's just always been so welcoming to me."
