NEW DELHI: Following the NIA’s objections, Sahba Husain, Elgar Parishad-Maoist link case accused Gautam Navlakha’s companion during his Supreme Court-ordered house arrest, returned to the agency two bottles of whiskey a day after she had carried them with her to the SC-approved premises.
After the SC on November 18 trashed the NIA’s fresh objections to the court’s order directing 70-year-old Navlakha to be shifted from Taloja Jail to a CPI-owned premises in Mumbai, Husain (71) wrote to the NIA on November 19 declaring she has taken liquor bottles and cigarettes to the house-arrest premises. “I am carrying two bottles of whiskey (Glenmorangie and Roulette) for my own consumption and this is not for Navlakha, who does not take (sic) alcohol. I also have nine packets of cigarettes (Classic Ultra Mild) for my own use and not for Navlakha, who does not smoke. These are simply personal habits,” she wrote.
